Our V Top Strap adds additional stability when you’re carrying heavier items on the top of your backpack. It is a little bit more secure than the standard, single top strap.

It can be used to carry a bear canister so long as the canister can squish into your gear as shown. Alternatively, a canister can also be carried standing vertically inside the pack.

The V Top Strap is modular and can be added or removed from your pack as necessary. Our normal, single top strap is also included when you add this option.

Top straps are not compatible with the Nero backpack.

V strap mod

Just got the Arc Haul 62. The top strap included can also be used as a V strap. Would not be long enough for a bear canister, but adds a bit more stability ehen fixing items onto the too with it.

Pretty handy

I added this on my pack just in case I had to use it for a bear canister for my son’s Boy Scout troop. On my last hike we didn’t have to use it for bear canisters but, it came in handy when I had to help carry a tent for one of the other scouts

Great gear

All the gear I purchased from zpacks is awesome. No problems at all. Was missing one piece to my order so when I contacted zpacks they sent it no questions asked. Awesome customer service, Awesome company!!

V top strap

Mostly positive, however if I am carrying a lot of food/gear I'm not sure the straps will be long enough to go around my Bearikade canister if the pack is puffed up on top.

10 days in the Dolomites

I used the Zip 64 on a 10mday trek through the Dolomite Mtns. It was easy to organize with stuff sacks. I used Zpack stuff sacks. The dry bags are better than the stuff sacks. I didn't come close to the load that I'd have if I was backpacking for that time. I loved the hip belt adjustments. I was able to dial in the support throughout the day. I wasn't sore at the end of the day. I think that I should have gotten the medium not small pack. THe shoulder strap adjustments were difficult. That may have been a size thing. I agree with the other reviewers about the hip belt pouches difficult to close but way roomy. I was able to get the water bottle in and out of the side pockets after a lot of practice. Overall, I really like the zip 64 pack. Maybe Zpack will give me a discount on a medium after this review.
