V Top Strap
Our V Top Strap adds additional stability when you’re carrying heavier items on the top of your backpack. It is a little bit more secure than the standard, single top strap.
It can be used to carry a bear canister so long as the canister can squish into your gear as shown. Alternatively, a canister can also be carried standing vertically inside the pack.
The V Top Strap is modular and can be added or removed from your pack as necessary. Our normal, single top strap is also included when you add this option.
These Top straps are not compatible with the Nero backpack. If you need a V Top Strap for your Nero, you'll can purchase one specifically designed to work with one here.

This backpack is so light and useful.. a very good purchase...
It's a good thing. Better a securing a load on top than the standard strap.
First thing I did was throw in my bag, tent and pad which all fit tightly into the bottom portion of the pack by the way. I added a few warm clothes, cooking gear and food; then atyached my alpine boots to the outside using side pulls, crampons and chair to the bottom loops and slid in an ice axe down the side and into the pouch just to be safe! From there it was only 10 miles and 7000 ft. to the top of Northern California's world a top 14'179 majestic Mount Shasta! Thanks for zeeee pack, Zpacks!!!
This back is so light, I dropped over 2lbs on the pack alone! Dropped another 2lbs by adding a Tri-Plex tent. Overall weight now without food, clothes and water...9lbs!!!
I made my first 140 miles on the Pinhoti trail with a regular backpack weighted down with stuff like a 4 1/2 lb tent. I had to stop every couple of miles to give my shoulders a rest. It was on the trail that I heard about zpacks from a fellow hiker I met. I decided when I returned to finish the trail I would go with the proper lightweight equipment. I love this backpack. All the weight is on my hips and it barely touches my shoulders. I can hike for miles without having to remove my pack.
