Esbit tablets are the true minimalist solution to heat water for simple meals, or an energizing cup of morning coffee. These solid fuel tablets will burn for about 12 minutes and can be blown out after partial use. They work great with our Titanium Wing Stove.

  • Esbit are best for smaller meals requiring one cup (250 ml) of simmering water. For example single serving dehydrated meals, oatmeal, coffee, tea, and other simple meals.

  • Depending on the conditions (wind, temperature, elevation) a single tablet may be able to bring two cups of water to a simmer, but don't expect a rolling boil. They are more reliable for one cup meals.

  • Solid tablets have no risk of spilling liquid fuel on your gear and much reduced risk of starting a fire due to a tipped stove.

  • They burn less fuel-weight per meal than most alcohol stoves or canister stoves.

  • The tablets can be blown out and reignited later when used for smaller meals.

  • Multiple tablets can be burned together for larger meals.

  • Each tablet is individually wrapped for easier packing. Sold in boxes of twelve.

  • Esbit tablets leave some residue on the bottom of your pot. It is a good idea to keep your pot in a stuff sack to keep your gear clean.

  • Also good for starting camp fires.

This is my go to fuel for backpacking!

I love these so much! They burn well, do not leave ashes, and can be used for not only cooking or boiling water, but as a fire starter. The burn time is about 17 minutes and I was able to boil water for a meal and another cup plus for tea. They are my go to for backpacking because they are ultralight when used with a titanium esbit stove, and pack easily into a 550ml titanium pot with stove, fuel, lighter, and a windscreen. On my last trip even with some rain, they lit easily and three people decided they wanted to try this cook system because of the low weight, packability and ease of use. Cannot go wrong.

Survival gear item for me (campfire boost)

I will carry one or two cubes in my backpacking survival pouch and use them if necessary to help start a stubborn campfire. Plenty of individually wrapped cubes inside the box. I tested a few out in the garage and found them to be very easy to light and once lit would burn for about 12-15 minutes and they produce quite a bit of heat. Out of curiosity I rigged up a temp platform for my 500ml titanium pot positioned an inch or so above the cube and was able to bring the 3/4 full pot to a boil in 5 minutes (2500ft elevation). I was fairly impressed with the price, convenience, and performance. The cubes can be blown out and re-ignited at a future time. The sealed pouches still need to be put in a zip lock bag (or similar) or you'll smell them in your kit (somewhat of a faint fishy smell).
