Measure your chest using a string or cloth tape measure and go by the "Fits up to" size. The "Fits up to" size includes a few inches of wiggle room for layering. The jackets are straight cut (like Men's jackets) and do not flare out at the hips.
They are fine for women, but make sure your hips will fit the bottom hem girth, or size up. A women's specific version is also available here.
- Rain gear should only be washed as needed, after a few trips or if you notice that the DWR is not as effective as when new.
- Machine wash with Grangers Wash+Repel or similar product.
- Tumble dry or line dry.
- rain jacket
- pit zips
This is a serious upgrade from my last rain jacket. Pit zips, lower weight, and long enough to overlap rain pants. I'm a tall guy, so sleeve and hem length can be a challenge but this is plenty large.
The day after I got the jacket I went to Virginia and hiked the 71 mile Massanutten Trail. First of all I saved almost 10oz. of weight. It rained off and on for two of the days and I was perfectly dry and I liked having the pit zips. I thought I would miss not having the hand pockets but I found that the chest pocket was sufficient to hold my gloves and outer mitts when not in use.
Great item.. like the light weight and breath ability living here in TX. Don't need the thick heavy typical rain jackets out there. This Vertice helps keep you dryer on inside an outside! lol but is pricey for those features. Love the jacket an hope it wears well over the long term!
It’s a darn good jacket. Completely kept out rain during a 4 hour hike.
First good trial run. Winter trip with a full day of nonstop rain, freezing rain, into snow. Jacket never even stopped beading. In same conditions, event fabric and a polyurethane something jackets left others in the group wanting and/or SOAKED. This think is amazing. And ways nothing by comparison. All the features you want and nothing you don't.
