Plex Solo Tent

$599.00 USD Weight 11.7 oz / 332 g
Lead Time Ships in 1-3 Days

The lightest of the light, our sub-12oz Plex Solo is easily the lightest full-featured one-person tent in the world. Designed for adventurers who value weight but aren't willing to sacrifice performance or comfort, the Plex Solo is the ultimate shelter for weight-conscious hikers looking to redefine boundaries and push limits.

Easily pitching with a single 52" (132 cm) trekking pole or tent pole, the Plex Solo Lite has a small footprint that can squeeze into the tightest backcountry campsites.

Available in two different Dyneema® Composite Fabric canopy and floor weights.

  • Made from waterproof, durable, PFAS free, Dyneema® Composite Fabric:

  • Sets up with a single 52” (132 cm) Trekking Pole or Tent Pole, and just 6 to 10 Stakes (each sold separately).

  • LineLoc V adjusters allow you to lock in the perfect pitch. Bright yellow Z-Line Guylines are easy to see day or night to avoid tripping.

  • Overlapping storm doors allow for a small amount of airflow without the need for additional venting. There are no zippers on the doors that could potentially fail over time. Keep one door closed for vestibule space, or open both for views and airflow.

  • The screen door has a rainbow zipper which allows easy entry regardless of which storm door is closed. You can access your shoes or wet backpack in the vestibule area on either side. The screen door conveniently drops inwards rather than hanging in your way. No need to roll it up or secure it.

  • The bathtub floor has tall walls and is recessed from the perimeter to keep you protected from splash-up and condensation. In calm rain or under wet trees one or both doors can be left open for air flow without water dripping or falling into your living space.

  • For even better rain protection with a door open, the screen door can be pulled back away from the rain spray using the cords at the end of the floor.

  • Tall hikers can add even more head and foot room by propping up the side guylines with Trekking Pole Cups. Or consider the Pivot Solo Tent for more headroom and zipper storm doors.

  • The durable floor material does not require a separate groundsheet. Flat Groundsheets are an optional precaution.

  • All zipper sliders are field-replaceable. Repair tape and spare sliders are included. Washing Instructions.

  • All Zpacks gear has a two-year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. Please see our return / warranty policy.

  • Made in the USA.

Cutting Guylines:

Guylines are pre-cut and attached for you. Linelocs are sewn in place for adjusting the lines. If you choose to switch out your lines for a different cord these are the default lengths:

Peaks - Cut 72 inches (183 cm) and tie a stake loop at 18 inches (46 cm). The long end attaches to the tent and the short end attaches to the door hooks.

Side Walls (cut 4x) - 48 inches (122 cm)

Corners, back center (cut 5x) - 24 inches (61 cm).

Setup Instructions:

In windy conditions orient the end of your tent with the overlapping storm door upwind. The Zpacks label at the corner indicates the upwind end of the tent.

Splash-up can occur when camped on hard packed surfaces during heavy rain. Our tall bathtub floor and overhanging canopy helps to keep mud and water from splashing up into your tent, but for best results please choose camp spots on leaves or pine needles when possible. Remove any pointy twigs and sharp objects to protect your tent floor but leave as much rain-dampening cushioning as possible to minimize the potential of splash-up.

  1. Adjust your trekking pole to around 52 inches (132 cm). If you expect your pole tips to sink into the ground, add a couple inches to compensate.

  2. Give your corner guylines some slack. Stake out all four corner guylines at a 45 degree angle, roughly straight off the corner points.

  3. Insert the trekking pole outside the screen with the handle at the peak and the tip in the ground. Stake the front line.

    • If the peak is too high, tighten the front corner lines. If it is too low, loosen them.

    • The corners of the tent should be about 6-8 inches (18cm) off the ground.

    • If the walls of the tent aren't smooth, you may need to reposition the corner stakes or adjust the lines tighter.

  4. Stake out the four wall tie outs.

Storm Doors:

Both of the doors can be clipped down, or rolled up independently. The storm doors can be clipped down to the front center guylines, or rolled up depending on the weather.  Leave at least one down-wind door open for air flow unless the weather is very bad.

Seam Sealing:

All Zpacks shelters have taped seams and bonded tie outs! No seam sealing necessary.

1000+ mile review

Used this on the long trail and arizona trail this year. Plenty of rain in vermont, and snow/hail in arizona. Held up fine in a blizzard with high winds. Me and a buddy both had zpacks tents which weathered that storm just fine, while another hikers tent collapsed (not naming names but the brand started with a D). Condensation was pretty bad some nights but that's what you get with single wall tents. Easily manageable since dyneema drys super fast. This thing packs small, like comically small it's honestly incredible how tiny and light weight this tent is. Setup is relatively easy and quick. Cleaning it out in the morning is a breeze, just flip it inside out and shake it. Got a few punctures in the floor but it was used in the desert after all, cactus needles etc. Easily repaired with dyneema tape. I'm 5 foot 9 inches and used one of those 1/8 inch thinlite pad and I juuuust fit without the walls touching me head or footbox. Im sure a zlite or nemo closed cell pads would work fine and if i was shorter id probably be able to get away with a taller pad like an inflatable. Those 4 "extra" guylines or whatever theyre called give a ton more room, its quite nice, palatial you might say. Judging by its condition after about 1072 miles i am reasonably sure I can do the cdt next year with this thing as long as I don't abuse it too bad. Tl;dr tent good

Plex Solo Classic tent review

So Far, I’ve only had the tent out on one trip, a 5-nighter in the rugged Salmon River Mountains. I’m in love with this tent; the craftsmanship, the spacious interior, the security of the bathtub floor, and the amazing light weight. The tent spectacularly handled an overnight windstorm that toppled several nearby trees. Thank you for an outstanding product!

Yes!

No regrets! I’m still perfecting the pitch and have a morning routine for the condensation that inevitably collects…but I am so happy with this purchase. Space and weight savings are completely worth any challenges this tent poses. It has an impressively thoughtful design that I appreciate more every night I spend in it. I’ve been dry through 4 nights of PNW rain.

Love the Plex Solo Lite

I’ve been using only a Bivy sack for years. This super lightweight tent has brought me much more comfort, space and frankly better sleep without any extra weight. Love it!
