Pivot Solo Tent
The Pivot Solo Tent is the ultimate ultralight shelter for solo adventurers seeking unparalleled comfort and versatility. Weighing a mere 13.5 ounces (383 grams), this innovative tent redefines lightweight camping without compromising on space, durability, or features. Crafted from premium Dyneema Composite Fabric for the body and floor, the Pivot Solo offers exceptional strength and waterproofing, ensuring you stay dry and protected in any weather.
The Pivot's unique design features a second trekking pole pivoted to the rear corner to maximize head and foot room in a small footprint. It pitches tighter and sheds wind better relative to single pole designs. The spacious interior fits wide, long sleeping pads with room for gear, and allows you to sleep comfortably in either direction depending on the slope of the ground.
The tent pitches quickly with just 6-8 stakes and two trekking poles. The compact footprint makes it perfect for squeezing into those hard-to-find backcountry spots, giving you the freedom to camp wherever your adventures take you.
Available in two versions. Choose "Lite" to push boundaries with our tried and tested .55 oz/sqyd DCF canopy, .75 oz/sqyd DCF floor, and 1.3 mm guy lines. Or add opacity and extra durability with a "Standard" .75 oz/sqyd DCF canopy, 1 oz/sqyd DCF floor, and 2mm guy lines.
The Pivot Solo Tent combines cutting-edge materials with thoughtful engineering to deliver a shelter that's as reliable as it is lightweight. Whether you're thru-hiking, bike-packing, or embarking on a weekend getaway, this tent offers the perfect balance of minimalism and functionality.
An optional flat groundsheet is available for added protection here.
- Constructed from Dyneema Composite Fabric with taped seams to keep water out. Dyneema Composite Fabric is ten times stronger than steel, is naturally waterproof, and is not treated with any potentially harmful chemicals such as flame retardants or water repellents. It is PFC free.
- This tent has fully enclosed ultralight insect netting. The holes in the screen are super tiny and even the smallest insects can not get through.
- Sets up with a trekking pole or tent pole adjusted to around 52" (132 cm) at the peak and one adjusted to 32" (81 cm) at the right rear corner of the tent. Trekking poles are not included but we have multiple Trekking Pole options to choose from.
If you do not use trekking poles, we have tent poles available. - The 52” pole is offset towards the head end of the tent creating a wide entryway with an L shaped zipper that drapes to help stop mosquitoes from chasing you into the tent. The offset pole also creates a steeper wall with additional head or foot room.
The 32” pole at the at the right rear corner of the tent further expands the internal volume of the Pivot Solo creating a tremendous amount of internal space. Taller hikers can have their head or feet right up against the screen wall without brushing condensation on the canopy. The second pole also helps brace the tent in the wind. - The unique shape and pole configuration creates a ton of room and allows hikers to sleep in either direction depending on the slope of the ground. The large amount of usable space provides hikers with plenty of space to stretch out without hitting the walls are ceiling.
- Six stakes are required for this tent with eight stakes recommended for a taught pitch in windy conditions. Stakes are not included but we have a variety of Ultralight Stakes to choose from.
- Small footprint allows you to squeeze into those hard to find backcountry flat spots, providing a decisive advantage over designs with larger footprints.
- Pitches just 4" (10 cm) off the ground which reduces drafts while still providing airflow around the perimeter.
- The entry features zippered storm doors. Leave the larger downwind door open on a nice night for a breeze and great views or close both doors to block cold wind and provide 360 degree rain protection.
The large downwind door can be rolled up and out of the way with magnetic toggles. - There is screen between the bathtub floor and the walls around the perimeter of the tent. Adjustable cords keep the bathtub floor elevated ensuring the screen slopes downward away from the bathtub. Any condensation will run down the walls and out through the downward sloping screens.
- The tarp overhangs the bathtub floor by a generous 7 inches (18 cm) all the way around to protect against splash-up and horizontal rain. In calm rain or under wet trees the downwind door can be left open for air flow without water dripping or falling into your living space.
- The Pivot Solo features a peak vent to increase air flow and help reduce condensation when the storm doors are closed.
- The entry features a wide L shaped zipper which gives you ample space to get in and out of the tent or to quickly access to the vestibule space. The L shape allows the screen door to drape across the entry and reduce the amount of mosquitoes and insects that follow you into the tent. The screen rolls up and can be secured with a dedicated magnet toggle.
- This tent has a sewn in bathtub floor that is 84” (214 cm) long and measures 29” (74 cm) wide on the left end, 28" (71 cm) wide on the right end, and 42" (107 cm) wide at its deepest point. The bathtub floor has 6" (15 cm) tall walls to keep you protected from groundwater or splash back.
- The bathtub floor easily accommodates a wide and long pad, leaving plenty of space to stretch out with space left inside for your gear. Store your backpack and wet shoes in the spacious vestibule area under the storm door, or bring your backpack inside and stand it vertically against the rear pole to maximize floor space.
- The floor includes integrated trekking pole flaps that allow you to pin down the floor with the tips of your trekking poles, or tent poles. This prevents the floor from blowing around, and also allows easy one-handed operation of the door zipper.
- Available in two versions. Choose "Lite" to keep weight at a minimum with our tried and tested .55 oz/sqyd DCF canopy, .75 oz/sqyd DCF floor, and 1.3 mm guy lines. Or add opacity and extra durability with a "Standard" .75 oz/sqyd DCF canopy, 1 oz/sqyd DCF floor, and 2mm guy lines.
- Regardless of the floor material chosen, a separate groundsheet is not required for this shelter. The floor materials are reasonably durable, and all Dyneema® Composite Fabric gear can be easily patched in the field with repair tape. If you do prefer to use a groundsheet as a precaution, Flat Groundsheets are available.
- Inside you’ll find an integrated mesh gear shelf for storing smaller items like a headlamp, glasses, or phone. The triangular pocket is about 12" wide x 10.5" tall with a 15" opening (30.5 cm x 26.5 cm x 38cm).
- All zippers on the tent have been designed to allow the zippers sliders to easily be replaced in the field. Two replacement sliders are included with the tent. Zipper slider replacement instructions can be found here.
- All tie outs feature LineLoc V adjusters and bright yellow Z-Line guylines, allowing you to lock in the perfect pitch. Tents featuring the Lite floors use 1.3mm Z-Line and tents featuring the Standard floors use our 2.0mm Z-Line.
- Repair tape comes standard with all of our tents and be found attached to the warning label.
- Packs down small and fits in the provided DCF Medium Stuff Sack.
- All of our tents do pretty well in the wind. The material can handle high wind loads. As long as your stakes stay in the ground (use rocks if available) your tent will stay standing. Dyneema® Composite Fabric is not a particularly noisy fabric; however, almost any tent will make a little noise in the wind. Earplugs are not a bad idea for windy nights.
- All Zpacks gear has a two year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. Please see our return / warranty policy.
- Made in the USA.

- Our tents are made from Dyneema® Composite Fabric. Dyneema® Composite Fabric has several advantages over other materials:
High strength to weight ratio – the material can handle high wind force and does not tear easily.
Chemical free, PFC / PFAS free
Waterproof – there is no DWR or coating to worry about wearing out. The material will not absorb significant water that will add water weight to your pack
Stretch-free – the tent will stay taut all night. Nylon material by comparison can stretch and sag, especially if it gets wet.
Taped seams – our seams are sewn for strength then taped water tight. The tie outs have bonded reinforcements for high strength. No seam sealing will be necessary!
Easily repairable – Any damage can easily be fixed in the field with our Dyneema® Composite Fabric Repair Tape.
- This tent is semi-transparent. In bright sunlight, a fuzzy silhouette of a person sitting inside the tent would be visible, but you cannot see any details. It has a suitable amount of privacy for changing clothes. In lower light (such as in the evening or at night), you cannot see through at all.
The Spruce Green .75 oz/sqyd canopy fabric choice is thicker, darker, and more opaque compared to the lighter fabric choices. - This tent has fully enclosed .67 oz/sqyd (22.7 g/m²) insect screen. The holes in this screen are super tiny, so even the smallest insects cannot get through. Our tent screen is about 30% lighter than comparable Noseeum screen with no noticeable decrease in durability.
- The bathtub floor is made from your choice of "Lite" .75 oz/sqyd DCF fabric, or "Standard" 1.0 oz/sqyd Dyneema® Composite Fabric which is more resistant to abrasion and punctures. Either floor material is easy to patch with tape.
- Lineloc V adjusters are sewn to all tie outs. Bright yellow Dyneema® Z-Line cord is cut and attached for you. The yellow lines are very easy to see night or day, and Dyneema® has very low stretch.
- The expected life span of this shelter is at least one full 2500+ mile thru hike, or many years of casual use with some care.

Cutting Guylines:
Guylines are pre-cut and attached for you. Linelocs are sewn in place for adjusting the lines. If you choose to switch out your lines for a different cord these are the default lengths:
Front Peak - 1x 72 inches (183cm). Tie a stake loop at 20 inches (51 cm). The long end attaches to the tent and the short end attaches to the lineloc on the smaller storm door.
Right-Rear Peak, Head Wall, Rear Wall - 3x 48 inches (122 cm)
Corners - 5x 24 inches (61 cm).
Setup Instructions:
The Pivot Solo tent can be pitched with either end into the wind, however you may wish to have the open door downwind. The head end of the tent is marked with a Zpacks label at the corner.
Splash-up can occur when camped on hard packed surfaces during heavy rain. Our tall bathtub floor and generous overhanging canopy helps to keep mud and water from splashing up into your tent, but for best results please choose camp spots on leaves or pine needles when possible. Remove any pointy twigs and sharp objects to protect your tent floor but leave as much rain-dampening cushioning as possible to minimize the potential of splash-up.
- Adjust one trekking pole to around 52 inches (132 cm) and one to 32 inches (81 cm.)
- Lay the tent out flat and stake out four of the five corners, excluding the back-right corner where the rear trekking pole goes. The guy-lines should be at a 45 degree angle, roughly straight off the corner points with some slack for adjustment.
- Insert the front trekking pole outside of the screen with the handle at the peak. Insert the tip through the button hole on the flap on the floor to pin the floor down. If using a 52" tent pole, place the pole directly onto the flap. The flap keeps the floor pinned down and makes one-handed zipping easier. Stake the front line and adjust it as necessary.
- If the peak is too high, tighten the front corner lines. If it is too low, loosen them.
- The corners of the tent should be about 4 inches (10 cm) or so off the ground.
- Lift up the right rear vestibule and insert the 32" (81 cm) trekking or tent pole outside the screen with the handle at the peak. Find the flap on the rear floor corner, pull it out tight to make the floor flush, and pin it down with your pole tip. The guy-lines at the rear-peak and the rear corner share a single stake. Make sure the trekking pole is vertical and the floor has a defined corner.
- Stake out the two wall guy-lines at the head and back walls of the tent if desired.
- If the walls of the tent aren't smooth, you may need to reposition the corner stakes or adjust the lines tighter.
Storm Doors:
The larger door can be zippered shut, or rolled up and secured open with the integrated magnet toggle. Leave the downwind door open for air flow when possible to minimize condensation.
Seam Sealing:
All Zpacks shelters have taped seams and bonded tie outs! No seam sealing necessary.
