Incredibly Happy Hiker

Fantastic experience.. I have some medical issues that hinder my hiking abilities and I rely on quality products to help make my hiking possible. Zpacks never fails to produce those quality products! Thank you for another amazing experience with your company and the trail!

Locking mechanisms failed me

It looks like this pole has been redesigned as my minimalist pole has the twist lock. My poles have already been warranteed once, and while hiking Mt. Whitney this weekend, the warranteed poles failed me again and the twist lock just spins and won't actually lock into place. I'm a loyal Zpacks fan with multiple pieces of Zpacks gear, but I'm striking out on these poles, unfortunately. Hopefully the redesigned poles with the external flick lock are more durable.

Used on CDT 23'

I carried these the entirety of the CDT and used them occasionally. Overall I think they were great, I had no durability issues, they were comfortable, light, held up my tent, and went unnoticed on my back. However, they have a few issues. On snow, they would unlock due to the snow basket holding the bottom in place and a twisting motion I was doing with my arms; this is my first pair of twist lock poles so I assume they would all have this issue, however, this made for some precarious situations on a few traverses. The second issue was that the twist lock would occasionally seize if water got inside, preventing me from collapsing the pole. They are still going strong after the CDT and I plan on taking them on my upcoming PCT thru hike.
