These things are sweet. Light as a feather, and stiff as a board. I love the additional grip down low under the handles. Adds way more versatility on steeper grades.

Zpacks Trekking Poles: A Perfect Blend of Durability and Lightweight Performance

I've been using the Zpacks Trekking Poles on my latest week long backpacks and they have exceeded all my expectations. Right out of the box, the first thing I noticed was how incredibly lightweight they are. Weighing just a fraction of many traditional trekking poles, they provide the perfect balance between reducing weight and maintaining strength, which is crucial for long-distance hikers. One of the standout features is the carbon fiber construction. Not only does this material keep the poles light, but it also makes them incredibly durable. I’ve put them through some pretty rugged terrain — from rocky slopes to muddy trails — and they’ve held up remarkably well without any signs of wear or damage. The poles are also collapsible, making them easy to store when not in use, and they adjust smoothly to fit my preferred height. The cork handles are another highlight, offering excellent grip and comfort, even during extended use in various weather conditions. The natural feel of cork helps wick moisture, and I’ve experienced no slipping, even on steep ascents or in rainy conditions. What truly sets the Zpacks poles apart is how versatile they are. They’re perfect for hikers who want ultralight gear without compromising on stability and functionality. I’ve also used them as support poles for my tarp shelter, and they’ve performed flawlessly in that role too. Overall, Zpacks Trekking Poles are an essential addition to any serious hiker’s gear. Whether you’re tackling a multi-day hike or a day trip in the mountains, these poles deliver in terms of both weight savings and reliability. Highly recommended!

Great lightweight poles

I've only used them on one trip so far, in the Grayson Highlands, VA. The first day ended up being double the mileage we planned due to dry water sources and limited camp sites, and these poles helped bear the load of my pack especially as I got tired toward the end of that unexpectedly long first day. They stayed locked up tight where I had set them, and never budged (until I wanted them to). I also used a trekking pole tent for this particular trip, so these poles also served as the supports for that. They are really easy to adjust to length, and they held fast. My tent never budged throughout the night, even as the wild ponies curiously and clumsily walked into the sides of the tent as I was trying to sleep. So, they're super lightweight, easy to adjust, strong, and the grips did very well under very sweaty conditions. My only issue is that I haven't quite figured out how to adjust the wrist straps effectively, but that could be all me. I've been through a number of brands' aluminum poles, from the cheapest you can find to a few different nicer Mountainsmith models, and so far, these are better in every category (except maybe the strap adjustment). Note that I haven't yet tried to fend off any wild animals with them, so I can't comment on their effectiveness for that.
