They performed quite well on first try hiking in snow and rain mix. Hands were warm and dry while hiking with trekking poles.

Cold, rainy hikes are no match for our Vertice Rain Mitts. Our Vertice fabric is optimized to be lightweight without compromising on durability, and it is among the lightest possible choices for waterproof-breathable rain gear.

Be sure to check out the rest of our Vertice Rain Gear.

  • Vertice material keeps your hands comfortable and dry rather than clammy and wet! The material can hold up to the wear and tear caused by trekking poles.

  • Ergonomic fit on the hand and thumb. Long enough for your jacket sleeves to comfortably overlap the wrists.

  • Elastic wrist bands have a clip to attach the mitts together or to hang them to dry. The elastic exits at the palm to distinguish the left and right hands.

  • The mitts are sized to be worn alone, or with a pair of thin liner mittens or gloves underneath for cold weather. These PossumDown gloves work great as liners under your rain mitts.

  • Fully taped seams.

  • Repair tape sticks extremely well to the inside of the material so repairs in the field are a cinch. Tape will not stick to the exterior.

  • All Zpacks gear has a two year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. Please see our return / warranty policy.

  • Made in the USA.

1.50 oz/sqyd Vertice Waterproof Breathable Fabric

This three-layer material has a tricot lining to wick moisture away from your skin, a waterproof vapor permeable membrane in the middle, and 7 denier ripstop nylon on the exterior. The outer surface is treated with a durable "C6" water repellent. The Vertice fabric boasts an incredible breathability rating that blows away most other rain gear, including our previous generation fabrics.

Weight: 1.50oz/sqyd (51g/ m²)

Vapor Transfer (JIS L 1099 Method B1): 56,000+ g/m^2/24hr

Water Resistance: >20,000 mmH₂O

  • Rain gear should only be washed as needed, after a few trips or if you notice that the DWR is not as effective as when new.
  • Machine wash with Grangers Wash+Repel or similar product.
  • Air or line dry. DO NOT dry using a dryer.

Opening way too small

While I agree that these are embarrassingly overpriced, I did buy and use them, and they worked well. The problem, a major problem, is that the opening to the mitt is incredibly small relative to the hand size of the mitt. An additional ¼" in perimeter would be the minimum to address the problem, without adding any cost. But they probably need an addition ½".

Excellent gear

I have a duplex tent, ZPack sleeping bag and lots of other bits and pieces from this company. The gear has had a lot of use and, despite its low weight, is very robust.
