Kept me dry in a heavy downpour and they are so small I can pack them along just in case.

Master the elements with the Men’s Vertice Rain Pants. Gone are the days of getting soaked with hot, humid and unventilated rain gear. Our Vertice Rain Gear material is optimized to be lightweight without compromising on durability, and it is among the lightest possible choices for waterproof hyper-breathable rain gear.

Be sure to check out the rest of our Vertice Rain Gear.

  • Adjustable shock cord at the waist. The shock cord can be cinched down to any minimum.

  • Wide ankles will fit over most shoes up to US Men’s size 12.

  • Dual adjustment ankle snaps.

  • Packs up tiny as shown. Roll the pants up and secure them with the waist elastic. No stuff sack necessary.

  • Repair tape sticks extremely well to the inside of the material so repairs in the field are a cinch. Tape will not stick to the exterior.

  • Combine these pants with a matching Jacket and Mitts for a super light rain suit!

  • All Zpacks gear has a two year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. Please see our return / warranty policy.

  • Made in the USA.

1.50 oz/sqyd Vertice Waterproof Breathable Fabric

This three-layer material has a tricot lining to wick moisture away from your skin, a waterproof vapor permeable membrane in the middle, and 7 denier ripstop nylon on the exterior. The outer surface is treated with a durable "C6" water repellent. The Vertice fabric boasts an incredible breathability rating that blows away most other rain gear, including our previous generation fabrics.

Weight: 1.50oz/sqyd (51g/ m²)

Vapor Transfer (JIS L 1099 Method B1): 56,000+ g/m^2/24hr

Water Resistance: >20,000 mmH₂O

Use a string or cloth tape measure to measure around your waist and compare that to our "Fits Waist" measurement. Don't rely on your "pant size" as the waist varies from brand to brand and may not actually correspond to inches.

There is no zipper, so our pants are built with the waist line loose enough to come up over typical hips and fit over your normal hiking pants. There is an elastic waist band to cinch them down to any minimum size. Women with large hips may need to size up a waist size.

The inseam length corresponds to normal US Men's pant inseams.

  • Rain gear should only be washed as needed, after a few trips or if you notice that the DWR is not as effective as when new.
  • Machine wash with Grangers Wash+Repel or similar product.
  • Air or line dry. DO NOT dry using a dryer.

Zpack rain jacket and rai pants

I bought these items as gear for a trip to Iceland. I was told it rains there frequently, and waterfall viewing can be a drenching affair. And it rained 4 of the 5 days I was there, so having lightweight rain gear really was a lifesaver. Dry as a bone, and didn't miss a thing!

Kept me dry, buttons ripped immediately

Light and functional but first button ripped (from leg closure) the first time I used them, second button ripped the second time I used them. Pretty poor design, a light clip with tightening capability would be as light/packable and less likely to tear. Too expensive for being so easily damaged.

Hello Matthew, I apologize that you had this issue. Please reach out to us at, for a return authorization and we will repair or replace your pants. They are covered under our warranty.

Vertice Rain Pants

After seeing my friend extolling the virtues when walking in the Western Arthur Ranges (Tasmanian Wilderness, Australia) and my 'cheap' rainpaints failing when slipping down (inadequate belt tie) and excessive condensation I decided to purchase Vertice Rain Pants. I tested them on the northern tablelands gorge country of New South Wales (Australia) in the Austral winter. Though the weather wasn't as inclement as Tasmania it was cool and wet and and I found them so light, comfortable and most importantly breathable. They pack so small and look forward to testing them in the the wet Scottish winter next year when backpacking in Europe. Due to the expense I wouldn't wear them in off-track thick bush or rainforest where thorns would likely tear the light weight fabric. Though it would add weight and bulk some means (zipper or velcro?) to open the lower leg so that they can be taken on and off while keeping walking boots on would be advantageous as weather conditions change. Thoroughly recommended and they are the best rain pants if you want light, compact and breathable wet weather gear. Cheers, Robbo

Does the job, but sizing is weird

I used these rain pants kayak camping in Glacier Bay NP. They kept me dry in the frequent drizzle and seemed to breathe well. I ordered the medium based on the sizing chart. The length is spot on and the waist was plenty big enough, but it was too tight around the buttocks. I have never had that problem with any other pants (rain or otherwise). With all pants, there should always be a little extra material below the waist. Not with these. So I exchanged them for a large, but they are WAY bigger all over than the medium. I had to really cinch up the draw string to keep them up. Even then they tend to slide down a bit. Occasionally I found the cuffs dragging on the ground, which caused some excessive wear when one got under my heel for a time before I noticed. Otherwise these rain pants are very durable (much more than my Dry Ducks, which weigh more). I'm happy with the light weight and reliable rain protection. And even the durability despite the issue described above. Just know that the waist size is not necessarily the only thing you need to consider.
