.66 oz/sqyd Dyneema® Composite Fabric
This canopy material choice has the same Dyneema® thread count as standard .55 oz/sqyd, but with a slightly thicker laminate that allows for a darker color or pattern to be printed on the material. The thicker laminate brings the fabric weight to .66 oz/sqyd. It blends in to nature well. It is darker, less transparent and offers more privacy. Dyneema® Composite Fabric has a bit of a sheen to it when it is new, but it dulls down significantly with some use.
This video by John Abela shows the opacity and color of the camo fabric. It adds around .6 ounces (17 grams) to the weight of the 7' x 9' Flat Tarp.
Tensile Strength: 63 lb/in (552 N/5cm)
Puncture Strength: 1.9 lb (8.5 N)
Water Resistance: 15,000 mmH₂O

I could not be more happy with my new tarp! I have bought many products from Zpacks and they are consistently amazing! The customer service is off the charts amazing! My new tarp is effective, lightweight and durable! Thank you Zpacks for everything! I’m a customer for life!
I bought the Zpacks 7x9 flat tarp and I’m very happy with it as my shelter system is now at 1lb 7oz.
Fantastic product and absolute freedom for the minimalist hiker. I added some Zpacks stick on hang loops on the inside for a mosquito net and it’s golden. Highly recommended.
For ultralight durability this composite fabric is currently the best choice for a variety of applications. As an outdoor enthusiast who happens to be a chemist, I can speak to the value of its near bullet proof molecular composition. As a medical doctor on an active search and rescue team I have observed, as many of you have, that carrying the lightest possible load without sacrificing function promotes fresh legs and a favorable sweat threshold in the backcountry. Z-packs adds to this a commendable history of innovative design and fine workmanship. I can say all this, and I don’t even work for z- packs or earn a commission. Dyneema could be improved by becoming breathable and less expensive, but in the meantime attention to good ventilation and having a well designed budget seem to do well enough.
