The Bagger Ultra 25L is the ultimate small travel backpack to take you from plane, to town, to trail. It is sized to fit under airplane seats and can even count as your personal item on budget airlines. With the right gear list you can bag a peak or two on a daytrip excursion or even do a couple overnights with a Summer Quilt, an ultralight tent, and room to spare.

Featuring a small and streamlined design, the Bagger can be packed as a secondary backpack for summit side trips or used as an ultralight minimalist pack for short adventures into the backcountry. The Bagger utilizes an included, easily removable foam sit pad that doubles as a frame and padding against your back.

With 3 different interchangeable strap designs, a removable belt, a comfy sit pad, and a bunch of cool modular add-ons, the versatile Bagger Ultra is your ticket to maximizing day hikes, weekend trips, or commutes.

  • Small and streamlined design.

  • Ultra 100X fabric features a woven Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) face fabric laminated to a waterproof backing. Ultra fabric boasts extremely high abrasion and tear resistance and is the strongest fabric we offer.

  • Ultra fabric is not coated with DWR or other chemicals and is PFAS free.

  • The pack material is waterproof and is constructed using hydrophobic thread, and all seams and attachment points are taped, making the pack highly water resistant.

  • The pack material is waterproof. All seams and attachment points are taped and the pack is constructed using hydrophobic thread, making the packs highly water resistant.

  • The pack should keep water out in typical backpacking conditions where the pack is not submerged or exposed to prolonged periods of heavy rain. We still suggest using dry bags or a pack liner to protect important items like your clothing and sleeping bags.

  • Access the contents of the spacious main compartment with a waterproof wrap around zipper

  • A large external zippered pocket on the outside of the pack is a great place for storing items that you'd like to access quickly.

  • The top of the pack features a small zippered pocket, creating the perfect place for storing your phone, keys, or wallet.

  • Side pockets are sized to fit one or two 1 liter bottles each. They are positioned low on the pack and slanted forward for easy access without removing the pack.

  • A stretchy external sit pad pocket is located on the back of the pack and allows you to easily remove your sit pad on breaks. The sleeve is also a convenient spot to tuck a small laptop or tablet behind the pad when used as a travel bag.

  • A closed cell foam sit pad measuring 11" x 15.5" (28 cm x 39.4 cm) is included and adds an additional 1 ounce to the total weight of the pack. The foam pads fits inside the external pocket and provides some cushion and support against your back.

  • The Bagger features an interchangeable strap design allowing you to pick the perfect strap for you. The design also allows you to swap out straps for specific adventures. You can choose from our comfy Standard S Straps, Small/Women's Straps, or our Vest Style Straps with integrated water bottle pockets. Weight: The weight is displayed near the add to cart button. It changes depending on the options you select.

Included foam sit pad: 11" x 15.5" (28 cm x 39.4 cm) / adds 1 ounce (28 g) to the total weight of the pack.

Belt
(optional): 1" (2.5 cm) wide x 50" (127 cm) circumference

Body dimensions: 5.5" x 11" x ~18" (14 cm x 28 cm x 46 cm)

Volume: 25L (18L main body, 1.5L each side pocket, 4L zippered pocket)

Load Capacity: Recommended up to 20 lbs (9 kg) for shoulder comfort. The backpack materials can handle as much weight as your shoulders can for longer carries.

Torso Height:

This backpack has a single belt attachment position. The actual distance on the pack from the bottom of the belt to the top of the shoulder straps is about about 18" (46 cm), which will fit most adults. On a frameless backpack, it is nice to have the shoulder straps roughly level with the tops of your shoulders (rather than wrapping up around them) so that more weight is forced on to the webbing belt. The pack body does not extend much above your shoulders and load lifter straps are not needed.

Shoulder Straps:

Small/Women's Straps

Comfy 3/8" thick and slighlty narrower 2.5" wide padded contoured shoulder straps that are shorter than our standard straps and designed for smaller torsos. The straps have a daisy chain for clipping on items like our popular shoulder pouchesshoulder pouches w/ zipperwater bottle sleeves, and an adjustable position sternum strap is included. The shoulder straps have 3D mesh on the underside which gives them a little bit more cushion.

Standard Straps

Comfy 3/8" thick by 2.75" wide padded contoured shoulder straps. The straps have a daisy chain for clipping on items like our popular shoulder pouchesshoulder pouches w/ zipperwater bottle sleeves, and an adjustable position sternum strap is included. The shoulder straps have 3D mesh on the underside which gives them a little bit more cushion.

Vest Straps

Our harness style Vest Straps feature comfy 3/8" thick padding at the shoulders and layered 3D mesh throughout that help wrap and hug your body providing a secure fit when navigating technical terrain or trail running. Each side of the strap features an integrated stretchy Lycra water bottle pockets that fits a 1L SmartWater or Body Armor Bottle, or a 600ml UltraFlask, a stow pocket, and a small zippered pocket perfect for storing energy gels or your keys. The straps have a daisy chain for clipping the two adjustable sternum straps that are included.

Belt Size:

The webbing belt will fit up to around 50" circumference and can be trimmed down for smaller waists or swapped out for larger waists. To move the belt to a different position, slide off the belt buckle and back the webbing out of the backpack attachment points.

3.3oz/sqyd Ultra 100X

Ultra 100X is composed of a woven 100 denier Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) face fabric laminated to a waterproof lining. Our 2nd generation fabric has a 50% thicker, more durable .75 mil laminate with an internal "X" grid for bias strength. The fabric is fully waterproof and has extremely high tear and abrasion resistance.

Our Repair Tape and Adhesive products stick extremely well to the interior of this fabric.

Weight: 3.3 oz/sqyd (112 g/m²)

Tear Strength: 69.4 lbs. warp; 89.6 lbs. fill

Water Resistance:
 >20,000 mmH₂O

.3.5 oz/sqyd Mesh

This is the mesh that we use on our backpack's center pockets. It has a relatively light weight for mesh, while being difficult to tear. It can withstand getting caught on branches and other typical abrasion that backpacks are subjected to. The hole size is a about 4 mm (a little over 1/8").

Weight:
 3.5 oz/sqyd (119 g/m²)

5.3 oz/sqyd 3D Spacer Mesh

This mesh has a three-dimensional structure which allows airflow and adds cushioning. We use it on the underside of our backpack's shoulder straps and belts to absorb sweat, add cushion, and add grip. Our 3D mesh weighs less than most other types.

Weight:
 5.3 oz/sqyd (180 g/m²)

Thickness:
 About 3/32" (2.5 mm)

Great, but leaks in the rain

My girlfriend and I both have the Zpacks Bagger Ultra 25 and, although we love it otherwise, both of ours leak fairly significantly if they are exposed to even a light rain for half an hour or more. We made the purchase based on my love of my Zpacks Arc Haul Ultra 60L backpack and general appreciation of the quality and innovation of Zpacks gear, so I offer this in the spirit of constructive feedback and to help others make an informed decision. Our Baggers seem to leak along the main zipper. We can't tell whether this is through the zipper itself or because the zipper stitching is not taped, but regardless the pack collects water in the main compartment, which then has nowhere to escape. This is not a deal-breaker, since we always line our packs with a dry bag anyway, but I am considering putting a couple of grommeted holes in the bottom to allow it to drain. Perhaps this is typical of zippered packs, I don't have enough experience with a variety of similar packs to know, but in future I'll probably go with a roll top.

Great new favorite day pack and travel pack

Zpacks does such a great job with weight and quality. I wanted a smaller capacity pack that could be used for hiking and travel. The weight is awesome and it will roll up to nothing. Side pockets are roomy and accessible. The sit pad is perfect as well. It’s the combination I’ve been looking for to satisfy my home based hiking and the surprise hike while traveling. At the same time, I can slide my computer into this and use it as a professional bag for meetings.

Pretty Good

I had a backpack of a competitor prior to getting this one so I compare a lot with my old pack. Both are prone to holes on the bottom. I had this pack a month and noticed that a hole was appearing. At least they sell a lot of repair materials. Overall I like the pack but I have some thoughts. Pros: You can get into easily, that was my main complaint with the other pack. The pockets are big The pack is light and packs down small I am not sure how water proof it is but it sure holds water if you have a spill inside the pack. Cons: The top pocket is angled in a way that you will lose stuff if you forget to zip it which I do often, so I can't put my wallet in there. There are not enough loops on the tip of the pack to hold a trecking pole or an umbrella. What ever that cord is that holds that stuff on most packs is missing so you can't keep tall stuff stable. I wonder when the zipper and elastic in the pockets is going to fail. There are a lot of zippers. I wish there were some built in mesh pockets on the shoulder straps. I had them on my old pack and I miss them. I wish there was an easier way to keep my phone accessible.

Bagger Ultra 25L Backpack

Overall, okay. Would be good to have 2 sizes for Men and Women. The three simple compartments are all you need. The side pockets are nice and deep so things don’t come out. I do need to report that 5 days into the England Coast to Coast 200 mile hike, the shoulder strap broke due to the tiny loop that held the shoulder strap breaking. A quick knot for a field repair got me through the remaining 11 days of the Coast to Coast plus 3 more weeks of day hiking all over the country. I only had water, lunch and a raincoat in the backpack so it was not overloaded. There is some downside to ultralight gear with tiny light straps and buckles. But I appreciate lightweight. Water proofing seemed to work fine. Did have lots of rain but I doubled with a backpack cover because I have experience in LOTS of all day driving rain and wind. Friends on this trip had Ospreys with backpack covers and still had wet stuff. So I’d recommend this pack for waterproofness even though I had a backup cover. The zippers look like good sealed zippers. My stuff stayed completely dry.

Bali trip

Took this ultralight pack on a recent trip to Bali. Performed well. Weight concerns averted.
