Hiker Profile: Nacho Pellejero

"Hi there, this is Nacho Pellejero, one of the members of the 260 litros team. In 2017, Simon and I decided to leave everything behind and go travel the Americas by bike.

We started in southern Patagonia and from there we thought that we were going to travel for only 9 months from Patagonia to Cusco, but we decided in the first week of traveling that we would like to go to Alaska.

So, In the meantime we’ll travel through Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru. It was in Peru where I did my first hiking to Choquequirao and Machu Picchu, two incredible Inca ruins in this country. And it was here where I really got engaged to it and wanted to do some more hikes through the countries that I was going to travel through.

When we arrived to Ecuador in late 2019 I had the opportunity to do some hikes through some important mountains around here. I was preparing my summit to the Cotopaxi volcano, which is one of the highest volcanoes in the mountains here in this country. For that I had to do some climitization to some mid-mountains. And also I had the opportunity to go hiking to hike the Inca Trail, which was a 3 day hike in one of the remotest areas I have ever been in the mountains.

I really want to thank Zpacks, because without their gear this wouldn’t have been possible. Because we have traveled through the most remote areas with our bikes and hiked through really, really complicated areas too. Having their ultralight gear has been an incredible support for us. So I would encourage everyone out there to go hiking, traveling, go out of your homes and have these experiences out there. Because only out there is where you can have this freedom."
