ZPacks™ Groundsheet-Poncho

Description:

We have taken our Cuben Fiber Groundsheet, added a hood and zippers, and turned it into a 3-in-1 piece of gear; Poncho, Pack Cover, and Ground Sheet all at once.

  • Constructed from Black 1.0 oz/sqyd Cuben Fiber which provides good abrasion and puncture resistance that can stand up to wear and tear. The material is waterproof and not breathable so it is important to have air flow at the neck, sides, and waist to stay cool

Specifications:

Two Sizes:

Solo-Plus Size:
When in groundsheet mode this is the same size as our "Solo-Plus" Cuben Fiber Groundsheet. It will fit a single hiker.

28" wide at the ends, 42" wide at the center, 7 feet long, with a 5" bathtub folded up all the way around. (If the material were laid flat the dimensions would be 38" x 52" x 94").

Weight: 5.1 ounces (144 grams)

Twin Size:
When in groundsheet mode this is the same size as our "Twin" Cuben Fiber Groundsheet. As a groundsheet it will fit two hikers.

When in poncho mode it is wider (more arm coverage) and longer (more leg coverage).  It is asymmetrical to match the footprint shape of our Hexamid Tents. That means when worn, it hangs down a little farther on one side compared to the other.

38" wide at the ends, 50" wide at the center, 7.5 feet long, with a 5" bathtub folded up all the way around. If the material were laid flat the dimensions would be 48" x 60" x 100".

Weight: 6.1 ounces (173 grams)

Poncho Mode:

  • Fitted Hood with visor keeps water off your face.

  • Waterproof zippers at the neck and sides for venting.

  • Half length separating zippers at each side ensure the sides can't blow open in the wind. An elastic belt at the waist allows you to snug the poncho around you for warmth when needed, or leave it loose for air flow.

  • Bonded hood and neck seams! No seam sealing necessary.

  • The Solo-Plus size poncho covers down to about mid-thigh (on a 5' 9" person w/ a small backpack) so you may want Rain Pants or a CloudKilt. The Twin size poncho is a little longer.

The poncho width covers to mid-arms. Expect wet arms. A poncho may not be suitable as your only rain gear in colder weather.

  • A quick Review of the Groundsheet-Poncho by Steve B.

Groundsheet Mode:

  • The outside of the poncho goes towards the ground when in groundsheet mode. The hood will be underneath covering the neck opening.

  • The sides of the groundsheet are folded up 5" all the way around forming a bathtub shape to keep out water. The six corners can be clipped to your tarp or Hexamid shelter. Six elastic hooks are included with our tents, or if you are using this with a different shelter hooks are available below.

  • Two sizes are available, our Solo-Plus or Twin sizes. See the sizing information on our Cuben Fiber Groundsheets.

  • 1 year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship on all ZPacks gear.
