Sawyer Squeeze Water Filtration System

Description:
Say goodbye to tedious water pumps or using chemicals! The Sawyer Squeeze Water Filtratrion System is one of the lightest weight, quickest, and longest lasting water filters on the market.

Three Easy ways to use it:
  1. Fill the included dirty water bag with water. Just squeeze and fold down the dirty water bag to force water through the filter into your clean water bottle. It has a fast filter rate; 1 Liter of water can be squeezed through the filter in about 50 seconds in my testing.

  2. Drink directly through the filter. The filter includes a pop up cap for drinking straight through from the dirty water bag.

  3. Or, (Recommended) add the inline adaptor sold separately below. The adaptor allows the filter to be spliced in any standard drinking tube, such as a Platypus (sold elsewhere). The filter is surprisingly easy to suck water through. This is a huge time saver and you probably won't even notice the filter is there!

What's Included:

The filter itself - 2.5 ounces (71 grams)
A single 32 ounce (1 Liter) dirty water bag - 1.0 ounces (28 grams)
Newly improved, more durable bag!

A syringe for back-washing water for cleaning- 1.2 ounces (34 grams)

The total carried weight would be just 2.5 ounces for the filter, plus 1 ounce if you choose to use the dirty water bag.

Features:

  • The 2.5 ounce water filter itself is guaranteed by Sawyer to filter 1 Million gallons of water.  The Hollow Fiber Membrane inside can easily be cleaned by back-washing water through the filter with the included syringe.

  • The Hollow Fiber Membrane is a .1 Micron filter which exceeds EPA recommendations for removing harmful bacteria and protozoan cysts such as E. coli, Giardia, Cryptosporidium, etc.

  • The filter itself is guaranteed for 1 million gallons however the water bag and syringe are not. For warranty help please contact Sawyer directly. www.sawyer.com

Joe and Sheryl's Review:

In 2012-2013 my wife Sheryl and I thru-hiked the Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand. It was about 1,900 miles (3,054K) and it took us 120 days to complete. Sheryl used the Sawyer Water Filter every day of our trip. (Gear list)

I normally don't treat any drinking water myself, but Sheryl likes to play it safe and she treats all of hers. In the past Sheryl used Aquamira drops, so this was our first long hike with the filter. Rather than use the provided dirty water bag, Sheryl used an inline adaptor to splice the filter into her Platypus tube as shown in the photo above.

The Sawyer filter was an Awesome time saver. Whenever we stopped for water Sheryl just filled her Platypus and off we went. There was no waiting around for drops to mix, and no tedious pumping.

As far as we can tell the filter did exactly what it was supposed to, Sheryl never got sick on our hike. The filter never got clogged up, and she only cleaned it a few times by backwashing water with the included syringe.

There were a few times on our hike that we had to fill up with nasty farm run-off water. I normally don't treat my own water, but I did break down and borrow her filter on those occasions. It was easy enough to squeeze water through her drinking tube into my own 1L bottles. Unlike my previous thru-hikes I didn't get sick at all in NZ!

A big thumbs up for the Sawyer water filter.
